From the Golden Coast to the rolling hills of Germany and France
Brought together, shooting up into the great expanse.
Throughout the years, I’ve been put through fire, snow, and test
As I was built and came alive in the heart of the Wild West.

In Colorado, a mile high, I was made to launch and fly
In ATLAS’ arms, I’ll go fast and far
Until I reach my new home: Mars.

I seek to peer into the core,
To sense its quakes and then explore
A rocky home,
Just like your own.

I’m yours, Earthlings, I’ll stay in touch,
But Earth is not my home.
I’m the next Martian
Not the first
No, I won’t be alone.
I’m like the Phoenix, taken flight
My name and purpose, InSight.

Speaker: Emily Boster is a system configuration engineer with Lockheed Martin Space in Littleton, Colorado. She worked as a mechanical designer on the InSight Mars lander for more than two years, while also serving as a payload systems integration engineer for InSight’s Robotic Arm and two cameras. Emily has more recently worked on Mars 2020 and proposal development for future deep space exploration missions to Mars and beyond.
