EXPERIENCES

SO MUCH TO DO IN ONE MAGICAL PLACE

Chautauqua has offered the best in recreational, artistic, and educational activities for over 125 years. Join us for retreats, classical and popular musical performances, film screenings, community festivals, educational talks and more!  The main attraction, of course, is the great outdoors – with more than 40 miles of hiking trails to explore, along with Chautauqua’s historic park-like campus with formal gardens and a new, Flatirons-themed playground for kids of all ages. Yoga & Qigong

Start your morning with renewing wellness classes, led by instructor Shanti Medina. Join us for a relaxing yoga practice, meant to help you reconnect with nature and your own body and mind. Or try out Qigong, an ancient practice which combines simple movement, breathwork and meditation.

Guided Hikes & Tours

Chautauqua is offering a variety of Guided Hikes this summer, including wildflower and rewilding hikes! We also offer tours showing off the historic and natural features of our National Historic Landmark campus.

Participants of all levels are welcome. Please bring a hat, water bottle, and comfortable, sturdy shoes.

Hikers will be required to sign an experience event liability waiver when checking in for the hike.

Independent Hiking

Chautauqua is a hiker’s paradise with 40 miles of trails in every direction at all levels of difficulty. Dogs love our hikes and are allowed on most trails (and in many of our cottages). Don’t forget to stock up with water, snacks, dog toys and sunscreen from the General Store before you set off. Check out this Visit Boulder guide to Chautauqua hikes.

Concerts & Events

TIRED OF HIKING?

In addition to the many outdoor activities available to our guests, no visit to Chautauqua is complete without taking in one of our classical or popular concerts, a silent film, or modern dance in our stunning Auditorium. Visiting in the fall or winter? Catch a singer-songwriter, lecture on space exploration or the adventures of the world’s most incredible explorers in the historic Community House. See what’s happening at Chautauqua during your visit!

Chautauqua Festivals

SEE WHAT’S HAPPENING!

The Colorado Chautauqua is free and open for all, and hosts three great festivals for the community every year!

Join us in the summer for Boulder’s best music festival, Flatiron Sounds.

In the fall, celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with live music, local vendors and great food at Festival del Sol.

And ring in the holiday season at WinterFest with family fun activities, a gift market and more!

Games for Everyone

GAME ON!

Hiking is superb here – but we have other outdoor activities, too. Get a friendly tennis, basketball, or pickleball competition going. We also have yoga mats, frisbees, and an assortment of giant board games available for guests to check out.

Gardens & Playground

RELAX WHILE THE LITTLE ONES PLAY

Wander through our beautiful Centennial and Waterwise gardens where you can not only relax and de-stress, but also learn more about our native Colorado plants. Children can get their wriggles out at our beautiful playground with its state-of-the-art play and climbing structures, including a mini-Auditorium and child-sized replica of the Flatirons.  Finish the day watching the sun drop behind the Flatirons, followed by a spirited board game on your cottage porch.
