Live Music
Clay Street Unit
Based out of Denver, CO, Clay Street Unit is rooted deep in homegrown southern country and folk that branches into the bluegrass sound that’s heard throughout the Appalachian hills. Forming in early 2021, the band recently released their first EP in the fall of 2022 and just recorded their first full length album set to be released this year. Clay Street Unit is working on developing and pushing their own unique sound, with a high energy, fresh take on the tradition of American folk and country music that is sure to keep you moving.
Two Runner
Two Runner is Paige Anderson and Emilie Rose. The American Roots duo from Northern California embody the hills they grew up in. Through the mediums of clawhammer banjo, flatpicking guitar, vocal harmonies, and oldtime fiddle, Two Runner puts a hip take on the Appalachian feel. Front woman Paige Anderson grew up touring in her family bluegrass band, Anderson Family Bluegrass, starting at the age of 9. The family of six traveled for about 12 years as Anderson Family Bluegrass and later The Fearless Kin. Paige wrote her first song with Chuck Ragan at 15, which kickstarted her love for songwriting. In the last few years, Paige has spent her time creating new music, played bass for Family of the Year (2018), wrote a plethora of new songs to share, and has been discovering a new sound for herself and Two Runner. Fiddler Emilie Rose was raised on Scottish Fiddle and fiddle camps starting at the age of 9. Emilie took the fiddle out of NorCal to study at Berklee College of Music, where she graduated in 2020. In her studies, Emilie was mentored by the greats such as Bruce Molsky, Natalie Haas, and Darol Anger. Together, Two Runner brings a rich mix to the folk music world, with their harmonies, banjo pickin’, dirt kickin’ duo.
Jake Leg
Rooted in tradition but with a fierce commitment to innovation, Jake Leg forges a unique path through the expansive world of acoustic music. Consisting of award-winning musicians Eric Wiggs on guitar and vocals, Dylan McCarthy on mandolin and vocals, Justin Hoffenberg on fiddle, and Aaron Hoffenberg on bass, Jake Leg breathes new life into modern progressive bluegrass, crafting a captivating landscape of high-level instrumental ability and thoughtful songwriting. Drawing something new from the well of tradition, the band takes the listener on a journey through rich narratives and evocative melodies, proving that within every note lies both a connection to the past and the promise of a bold musical future.
Since forming in 2021, the band has quickly been recognized as one of the leading contemporary bluegrass bands to come out of Colorado, drawing nationwide critical acclaim. With steadily growing momentum and their all-original debut album Fire on the Prairie released May 11, 2024, Jake Leg is poised to make their mark in the bluegrass world with their unique voice.
King Cardinal
The core trio of Brennan Mackey (vocals/guitar), Ben Waligoske (pedal steel), and Jonah Wisneski (guitar) forms the heart of Denver-based King Cardinal’s distinctive sound. Notably, King Cardinal has an impressive touring history, sharing stages with artists such as Ben Sollee, Darlingside, The Wallflowers, The Futurebirds, Sam Outlaw, and Israel Nash. Their music has even found a place in popular culture, being featured in the hit Netflix movie “Love Hard.”
King Cardinal’s journey began with early songs that earned Mackey an invitation to perform at the prestigious Telluride Bluegrass Festival alongside stars like Punch Brothers, Brett Dennen, Lake Street Dive, and more. Now, with their upcoming album “Land Lines,” King Cardinal continues to evolve and showcase their musical prowess, promising an exciting next chapter in their musical story.
Alexa Wildish
Alexa Wildish has a pristine mountain-stream voice and songs so personal it’s like she’s reading her journal out loud. For the last year, she was living out her wanderlust in a van, winding her way through every western state—sharing her songs along the way. She has now landed in the cozy, mountain music town of Lyons, Colorado. Her original music is defined by refined vocal skill and is tinged with the roots of Americana, the big swells of country, and the drive of Celtic music. Winner of the 2019 Rocky Mountain Folks Festival songwriting competition, Alexa took to the Planet Bluegrass stage with a full band in August 2021. With laughter and levity, her songwriting explores the deep reservoir of human feelings, inviting listeners to feel the vastness of being alive. Her eponymous EP was recorded at Goosehead Palace with producers Dan Knobler and Russell Durham featuring artists such as Ruth Moody (Wailin’ Jennys) and Jordan Tice (Hawktail).
Adding to her life’s great adventure, Alexa made it to the Playoffs in Season 24 of The Voice. She got a 4-chair turn with her rendition of Fleetwood Mac’s Songbird. She was on the 2nd Team Niall!
