WE FOCUS ON WHAT MATTERS

1. WE CAN’T DO IT WITHOUT YOU

YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS MATTER

For over 120 years, the Colorado Chautauqua Association has served as the nonprofit steward of the historic Colorado Chautauqua. As a 501(c)(3) organization, we rely on generous donors to help us continuously improve the quality of our arts, cultural, and educational programming, our historic accommodations and event venues, the natural beauty of our grounds, and the overall experience of our visitors and guests.

2. YOUR DONATION KEEPS CHAUTAUQUA BEAUTIFUL

NATURE MATTERS

Since 1898, visitors have found solace, inspiration, and a sense of renewal in the quiet, contemplative, natural beauty of Chautauqua. The awe-inspiring Flatirons serve as the backdrop for our historic campus with nearly 500 trees towering over our charming cottages, gardens, courtyards, and pathways. Your gift helps cover the over $1 million annual expense of maintaining Chautauqua’s buildings and grounds.

THE ARTS MATTER

The Colorado Chautauqua has been at the core of arts and culture in our community for over 120 years. Tens of thousands of residents and visitors attend over 150 arts, cultural and educational programs at Chautauqua yearly. Highlights include the Colorado Music Festival, Summer Concert Series, community festivals like WinterFest and Art In the Park, and children’s performances.

4. YOUR GIFT PRESERVES CHERISHED MEMORIES

MEMORIES MATTER

Chautauqua turns both everyday experiences and special occasions into treasured lifelong memories. Whether it’s your first visit or you are a Chautauqua regular, the moments spent on our historic grounds in the shadow of the magical Flatirons will fill you with joy and wonder. Gifts to Chautauqua preserve memories for everyone who visits this special place.

5. YOUR DONATION SUPPORTS THE COMMUNITY

COMMUNITY MATTERS

Chautauqua is here for the community. Not only do we offer thousands of discounted and complimentary tickets to diverse and underserved groups, we provide reduced rate rentals to hundreds of area nonprofits, governmental entities, and educational organizations. Meanwhile, community events like WinterFest allow Chautauqua to support local artists and other nonprofit organizations, while our free third grade field trips bring history alive for countless Boulder County schoolchildren. Help us ensure everyone can experience the gift of Chautauqua!

6. YOUR GIFT SUPPORTS CIVIL DISCOURSE

CONVERSATIONS MATTER

Chautauqua has a tradition of fostering civil discourse, bringing together scholars, activists, experts and community members for thought-provoking and engaging programs. We also host several events throughout the year that reflect our commitment to social justice, diversity and inclusion. Your gift helps educate the community about these and other important topics.

7. YOUR GIFT SUPPORTS THE ENVIRONMENT

SUSTAINABILITY MATTERS

In 2008, the Colorado Chautauqua Association committed to making the Colorado Chautauqua the country’s most sustainably operated National Historic Landmark. Since then, we have made sweeping changes in the way we operate. We continue to explore strategies to conserve water and energy, divert waste from landfills, and utilize earth-friendly products, while preserving the comfort and enjoyment of our guests and maintaining Chautauqua’s historic character. Your support helps preserve and sustain the natural beauty of Chautauqua for generations to come.

8. YOUR DONATION ENSURES A SPECIAL PLACE FOR LOVED ONES

FAMILY AND FRIENDS MATTER

A visit to the Colorado Chautauqua heads up the list of “Top Things to do in Boulder.” Not only are Coloradans incredibly proud of Chautauqua and rarely miss an opportunity to show off this prized jewel to their loved ones, they choose this special place for the most important events in their lives, including weddings, graduations, family reunions and celebrations of life.

9. YOUR GIFT SUPPORTS DIVERSE PROGRAMMING

INSPIRATION MATTERS

At Chautauqua, stories of adventure, exploration, and scientific marvels are woven together with film, dance, and musical offerings. We offer the best of classical music, pop, blues, and jazz, silent films, documentaries and children’s programming, as well as tales of adventure from explorers, authors, and astronauts. Your support helps offset the cost of providing diverse year-round programming in this stunning setting.

10. YOUR GIFT KEEPS THE MOVEMENT ALIVE

PRESERVATION MATTERS

The Chautauqua Movement brought lifelong learning, culture and entertainment to America’s small towns during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. At its height, nearly 12,000 communities hosted a Chautauqua, while today only a handful remain. The Colorado Chautauqua is the longest continuously operating Chautauqua west of the Mississippi, the only year-round Chautauqua, and one of the few whose grounds are free and open to the public. It’s hard to imagine, but in the 1970s this beloved institution fell into a state of ruin. Your gift ensures the Colorado Chautauqua will thrive for generations to come.
