Meet Your Retreat Leaders

As women, we can find it hard to step away from our busy lives to find the inner strength and connection we need to persist and grow. From Yoga to Forest Bathing to Cacao, the powerful women who lead our retreat activities possess expertise across a wide range of restorative practices. The true magic lies in their ability to create a safe space which will let you reach new levels of peace and self-discovery.

Retreat Curator – Rohini Grace is the Colorado Chautauqua’s Experience Curator. With a vast background in women’s tours and retreats, Rohini is the retreat guardian and the go-to for anything you may need.

Inspirational Speaker – Julie Tara is an inspirational speaker and writer who has built a vibrant worldwide business in the wellness industry, becoming a sought-after teacher and coach. She is deeply committed to consciousness-raising, life-long learning, and helping others reclaim their true destiny.

Vinyasa Yoga – Sarah Lems (E-RYT 500)   teaches yoga in a nurturing, supportive, and fun-loving way. Yoga changed her outlook on life, allowing her to find the pause between stimulus and response and teaching her to slow down and listen to her inner voice.

Forest Bathing – Darlene Rooney is a Nature and Forest Therapy (ANFT) guide, trained in the relational practice of being in the natural world with the intention to slow down, awaken the senses, and be fully present to the beauty, mystery, and healing energy of nature. Darlene has been a massage therapist and student of yoga for over 20 years.

Musical Artist – Sheela Bringi has released two albums as a solo artist (Shakti Sutra and Incantations) and her work bridging the musical worlds of India and America has been profiled by NBC News, NPR, Yoga Journal, and others. Bringi’s lush Indian vocals, soaring bansuri flute, and harp have graced 50 + world and new age records, as well as several acclaimed film and TV scores.

Cacao Priestess – Helen Knight is a healer, medicine woman, mentor to Highly Sensitive People and Reiki Master/teacher. Ceremonial cacao was used by the Maya and Aztecs to connect and receive guidance and counsel from their gods and goddesses. It is known as a feminine heart medicine that helps expand self-love.

1.Time for Reflection and Self-Discovery

Women take on so much – navigating home and work responsibilities and balancing health and financial concerns. Our retreats are designed to help you rebuild depleted reserves, forge new relationships, and learn healthy practices that will help you rediscover YOU. The Rockies offer a natural metaphor for feminine renewal, with joyful meadow flowers sprouting in the shade of snow-capped peaks. When was the last time you harnessed the power of nature, movement and connection with other women to fill your mind, body and soul with possibility?

2. Rich and Varied Program

Our retreat program was designed by an all-female team with a passion for women’s wellness and empowerment. The goal was to create a memorable and unifying experience for women of all ages and walks of life. Take in Chautauqua’s stunning natural surroundings. Enjoy silent hikes and forest bathing and restorative practices such as intention setting, Vinyasa yoga, and cacao ceremonies. Our staff is here to help create a transformational experience for you!

3. Award Winning Lodging

The Craftsman-style Missions House Lodge features an expansive great room, cozy fireplace and eight-bedrooms (each with adjoining private bathrooms and queen beds). The lodge offers retreat participants an intimate space for programs, socializing and rest. Guests who prefer a more private arrangement can choose charming self-contained studio cottages with full kitchens. Wherever you choose to stay,  you will join with the spirits of women who have found respite, discovery and connection at Chautauqua for over a hundred years.

4. Nutritional Food that Delights

Chautauqua prides itself on its delicious, healthful, energy-giving food, sourced locally and sustainably. Our farm-to-table partners at the celebrated Chautauqua Dining Hall serve gourmet Colorado bistro cuisine and specialty teas from the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse. Participants at the retreats will also enjoy a spiritual cacao ceremony and a delicious picnic spread. You will savor the memory of these meals with new friends long after you return home.

5. History in the Making

This is the first series of women’s retreats since the golden years of the Chautauqua Movement in the early 20th Century. Women were at the core of that movement, which embraced the values of lifelong learning, love of nature, voluntary simplicity and music, oration and the arts. Those values remain at the core of the modern Chautauqua experience and our new Women’s Retreats. Join the retreat and become part of Chautauqua’s rich tapestry of women learners and leaders.
