A 100-year tradition, the beloved Chautauqua Silent Film Series continues with The General (1926). The General is a silent comedy-adventure starring Buster Keaton as a determined railroad engineer whose beloved locomotive is stolen during the American Civil War. When Union spies capture both his train and the woman he loves, he embarks on a daring and hilarious rescue mission. Featuring spectacular train stunts, inventive physical comedy, and Keaton’s signature deadpan performance, The General is widely regarded as one of the greatest achievements of silent cinema.
