Jake Leg
Rooted in tradition but with a fierce commitment to innovation, Jake Leg forges a unique path through the expansive world of acoustic music. Consisting of award-winning musicians Eric Wiggs on guitar and vocals, Dylan McCarthy on mandolin and vocals, Justin Hoffenberg on fiddle, and Aaron Hoffenberg on bass, Jake Leg breathes new life into modern progressive bluegrass, crafting a captivating landscape of high-level instrumental ability and thoughtful songwriting. Drawing something new from the well of tradition, the band takes the listener on a journey through rich narratives and evocative melodies, proving that within every note lies both a connection to the past and the promise of a bold musical future.
Since forming in 2021, the band has quickly garnered national attention. They were recently nominated for IBMA Momentum Band of the Year and named one of “10 of the Top Colorado Bluegrass Bands” by Denver Westword. With steadily growing momentum and their all-original, debut album Fire on the Prairie released May 11, 2024, Jake Leg stands out as a unique voice in the expansive world of bluegrass and acoustic music.
Martin Gilmore
With a diverse and extensive repertoire, Martin Gilmore’s soulful voice navigates a wide range of sounds with traditional and original songs. His easy-going style explores the depths of folk music with authentic reproductions, creative reimaginations, and unique original songs. His robust vocals, and impressive guitar work combine to bring color to new and old songs alike. Gilmore’s strong desire to let his authenticity blaze a trail leaves no doubt about his sincerity or artistry.
Martin Gilmore released his debut self-titled record in 2009 which was produced by Infamous Stringdusters bassist Travis Book. The record also featured members of FY5, Open Road, and Pete Wernick of Hot Rize. In 2017, Martin released his EP East-West also featuring Eslam Elabaty, which was recorded in Cairo, Egypt where Martin lived from 2015-2017. Martin’s 2021 release The Martin Gilmore Trio featured the talents of mandolinist Nick Amodeo and bassist Ian Haegele, who play regularly with Martin. The record also features Tim O’Brien, Courtney Hartman, and Mollie O’Brien. The Martin Gilmore trio have played all over the United States and Ireland, and were one of the official showcase groups at the International Bluegrass Music Associations World of Bluegrass conference in 2021.
In 2017, Martin joined the faculty at the University of Northern Colorado as part of the Folk and Bluegrass program in the School of Music. As part of the program he has conducted lessons in bluegrass guitar, singing, composition & songwriting, and has led the bluegrass ensemble. Martin has also been an instructor at Swallow Hill Music Association in Denver since 2008, where he leads classes about songwriting, guitar, singing, and directs bluegrass ensembles and the Swallow Hill Bluegrass Band. He also has taught courses on bluegrass music, the banjo, country music, and cowboy songs for the University of Denver’s Enrichment Program.
Martin has opened for groups such as The Infamous Stringdusters, Stephen Stills, Judy Collins, amongst others. He has toured all over the world as a solo act, as well as with the Martin Gilmore Trio, and his bluegrass band Long Road Home. He also won the 2024 Telluride Bluegrass Festival Troubadour songwriting competition and the 2024 Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Songwriters Showcase competition.
