Accessibility Features at Colorado Chautauqua Venues

Please see below for information on accessibility features and recommendations for attending Chautauqua events.

Venues

Community House

ADA access to the upper level of the Community House (i.e., Grand Assembly Hall) is available at the South/Morning Glory entrance of the Community House via a lift. Venue access to the lower level of the Community House (i.e., Rocky Mountain Climbers Club and Meadows Library) is at street level on the north side of the building.

Accessible restrooms are available in the venue at the west side of the building as indicated. When available, concession stands are accessible from all seating locations.

Auditorium

Access to ADA seating and limited mobility seating is provided by a ramp in the Auditorium. The Auditorium also includes accessible backstage and performer spaces, supporting artists and speakers of all abilities.

Accessible restrooms are available outside the venue, adjacent to the South Entrance.  When available, concessions are accessible from all ADA seating locations.

As part of our current Auditorium renovation, we are further expanding accessibility. When construction is complete, the facility will feature an accessible ramp to the stage, ADAcompliant restrooms, additional integrated wheelchair and companion seating, and other ADAcompliant design enhancements that exceed minimum requirements.

Parking and Transportation

Community House

Designated accessible parking for people with disabilities is available directly in front of the Community House on Morning Glory Drive.  All parking is “first come, first serve.”

Auditorium

Designated accessible parking for people with disabilities is available adjacent to the south entrance of the Auditorium. Please refer to a Colorado Chautauqua map for designated parking spots. All parking is “first come, first served.”

Accessible Shuttle

Auditorium

An accessible shuttle picks up passengers from the New Vista High School parking lot beginning 90 minutes prior to showtime.  The shuttle drops off passengers directly outside of the south entrance of the auditorium, approximately 40 feet from the entrance. At the conclusion of each concert, the shuttle is staged at the back of the auditorium, ready to return passengers to their destinations.

Ticketing

Chautauqua adheres to the 2010 ADA Revised Requirements for accessible seating sales. Patrons in need of accessible seating should request accommodations when purchasing tickets. Each accessible seat may be purchased with up to three adjoining companion seats, based on availability, for a maximum of four tickets. To ensure proper access and seating management, accessible seating areas are reserved for ticketed guests and their accompanying companions only.

Wheelchair Accessible Seating

Community House

All Community House events feature general admission seating, with seating available on a firstcome basis. Wheelchair-accessible seating can be accommodated in the front and back rows, as well as on the aisle of any row.

Auditorium Events

Reserved wheelchair-accessible seating is available in Sections A, AL, and AR in Row CH, and Section A, Row L.  General Admission wheelchair-accessible seating is also available in front of Section CL. Please see the seating chart located under Auditorium Venue Information for locations. These seats must be selected at the point of purchase.  If you have already purchased tickets and require accessible accommodations, please contact the box office for assistance.  Chautauqua cannot guarantee seating in Row CH or L without a ticket for that row.

Wheelchairs are not available for rent.  Patrons must remain in their personal wheelchair or transfer to a venue-provided folding chair.  Folding chairs are also available for companions, if needed.

Limited Mobility Seating

Community House

All Community House events feature general admission seating, with seating available on a firstcome basis. Please contact the Box Office or inform staff at the door for assistance with front row, back row, or aisle seating accommodations.

Auditorium

Limited mobility seating is available in general admission seating.  Row M in Sections CL, BL, B, BR and CR is also recommended for limited mobility seating. These seats must be selected at the point of purchase.

Deaf Or Hard of Hearing Accommodations

Chautauqua’s venues are equipped with a Radio Frequency (RF) Assistive Listening Systems (also known as “FM System”) to support guests with hearing needs. Complimentary receiver and headphone units are available upon request during events. Guests with compatible personal hearing devices may also connect through other available options (e.g., neck loops). Please inquire with our box office before events or request assistance when entering the venue.

To request an ASL (American Sign Language) interpreter or live captioning, please contact our box office no later than 14 days prior to your ticketed event date.

Blind or Low Vision

Community House

All Community House events feature general admission seating. Seating is available in the front rows for patrons seeking accommodations for low vision. Please inquire with our box office before events or request assistance when entering the venue.

Auditorium

Seating in Row CH is reserved for guests with low vision or blindness. Tickets for these seats must be selected at the point of purchase.

Service Animals

Service animals are permitted in the Auditorium. Service dogs must be harnessed, leashed or tethered at all times, unless special circumstances exist, and will be required to rest in the seating area of the individual with a disability, rather than in the aisle. A guest whose service dog poses a threat to the safety of other guests and employees, or whose dog is not housebroken, may be asked to escort the dog off the premises. Emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy dogs are not service animals as defined by the 2010 ADA Guidelines.
