WELCOME TO CHAUTAUQUA! Since 1898, Chautauqua has been hosting visitors wishing to experience the quiet, contemplative beauty of the Park and enjoy the many programs, lectures, concerts & films that we host. Originally visitors slept in canvas tents with wooden floors. Simple cabins replaced the tents and over time those cabins have been renovated into cozy cottages, each with a unique history and historic charm. We offer nightly rentals year-round. During the summer months June-August, we offer 60 cottages, Missions House Lodge and Columbine Lodge for nightly rental. The cottages range in size from efficiency to 1-3 bedrooms, each with a fully equipped kitchen and screened-in front porch. From September to May, we long-term lease some of the cottages and all of Columbine Lodge. We continue to offer nightly rentals in 35 cottages and Missions House Lodge. Of course the cottages are fully winterized and are cozy against the backdrop of the snowy Flatirons. CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT Check-in time: 4:00 p.m. | Check-out time: 10:00 a.m. We are happy to accommodate early check-in requests when the cottage or lodge room is cleaned and available prior to 4:00 pm. However, we cannot guarantee an earlier arrival time. Depending on arrival/departure patterns, we can frequently offer check-out times after 10:00 a.m. during the winter months. Feel free to ask our Lodging Office the day before your departure. However, that is rarely the case in the summer months. Any late check-out not pre-approved by our Lodging Office is subject to a charge equal to the nightly rate. LATE ARRIVALS If you will be arriving after our normal office hours, please contact us and we’ll explain our late arrival procedure. DEPOSIT & PAYMENT A credit card deposit equal to the first night’s lodging or 1/3 of the total lodging amount, whichever is greater, is required at the time the reservation is made. The balance, including tax, is due upon arrival. Colorado Chautauqua accepts cash, MasterCard, Visa, American Express and personal checks. For bookings of six or more Cottages and/or Missions House Lodge, a group contract will be required.
MINIMUM STAYS In general, winter weekends require a minimum two night stay and summer reservations require a four night stay. However, shorter stays may be available on reservations made 30 days or less prior to arrival, or when we have odd stays to fill. Feel free to call and check availability. EXTENDED STAY DISCOUNTS Extended stay discounts are available for guests staying 11 or more nights. Guests staying at Chautauqua for two or more periods of time during one year will pay for each period as a separate reservation. Separate stays cannot be combined to qualify for an extended stay discount. Guests who do not fulfill their total discounted reservation period will be charged at the rate applicable for the period actually stayed. TELEVISION We offer serenity in lieu of televisions. The units are pre-wired for cable TV. If you bring your own TV, you may choose to activate service at your expense by contacting Comcast Cable. PHONES The cottages do not have phones, but they are pre-wired for phone service. If you would like to connect a landline for phone or fax, just call Qwest Communications. Additionally, there is adequate cell phone service throughout the park and a phone in the lobby of Academic Hall for complimentary local calls. INTERNET ACCESS Lodging guest receive two hours of complimentary Wi-Fi daily. Additional access is available for a nominal fee. AIR CONDITIONING With the exception of Missions House Lodge, our units DO NOT have air-conditioning. As part of our green initiative, the cottages are very well insulated – keeping them cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Some cottages also have whole-house fans in order to take advantage of night time cooling strategies. Most cottages have a ceiling fan in each bedroom and in the living room. For increased comfort, portable evaporative coolers are available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis for $10/day. HOUSEKEEPING SERVICES / LINEN EXCHANGE Our housekeepers take great pride in cleaning your cottage prior to your arrival. We do not offer daily housekeeping. You'll find basic cleaning supplies and equipment in your cottage. During the summer, our housekeepers are happy to exchange your bed linens and towels, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. The linen exchange window is located in the guest laundry room. From September – May, we're happy to provide fresh towels, linens and any supplies (soap, shampoo, t.p., etc). Just call the Lodging Office and we'll take care of you. GUEST LAUNDRY A coin operated guest laundry is located mid-alley between Primrose and Astor Lane, in between Columbine Lodge & Missions House Lodge.
