This 1922 film is considered the most faithful version of Dickens' original novel—virtually every major character and subplot is included with little in the way of changes. In Victorian England, young Oliver Twist (Jackie Coogan) is born into poverty. His mother dies and his father is unaccounted for. Oliver is sent to a workhouse and gets in trouble for requesting more gruel. Running away from abusive conditions, Oliver heads for "polluted" London. He meets the Artful Dodger and joins a gang of boy pick-pockets led by the crafty old Fagin (Lon Chaney).
Also featured: “An Eastern Westerner” starring Harold Lloyd.
Total running time: 101 min.

Harold Lloyd’s comic masterpiece “Kid Brother” is a masterful blend of great comedy and sentiments. Harold Hickory (Lloyd) is smitten by Mary Powers travelling with her late father's medicine show. When the show burns down, Harold invites her to stay at his house with his father and brothers. When the town's money is stolen by thugs, Harold's father is accused, and with encouragement from Mary, Harold sets out to find the real crooks.
No matter how many times you watch this film you can always find something you did not notice previously. The film is so beautifully shot that it has an idyllic quality and its structure is something to be marveled at. It is so delicately built that every frame, even every prop serves a purpose for either characterization or as link between gags, or both.
Total running time: 87 min.
