Cottage 701 was built in 1922. Tennis courts were marked with cloth tape each summer on the Chautauqua Green in the early twentieth century. By 1915, the southern court was a layer of gravel and the backstop was chicken wire. By the late 1920's, the Chautauqua Women's Forum paid to surface it in concrete.

This cottage is convenient to tennis and basketball courts and close to hiking trails.
