A beautiful evening of music led by guest conductor Peter Oundjian kicks-off with Joan Tower’s evocative musical essay based on “America the Beautiful” entitled “Made in America.” Mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung returns to the stage for a performance of “Abschied” (The Farewell) from Gustav Mahler’s symphonic song cycle “Das Lied von der Erde” (The Song of the Earth). Also on this program is Stravinsky’s “Pulcinella Suite,” inspired by the music of the Baroque composer Giovanni Battista Pergolesi.
