AUTHORS

Upcoming Veterans Speak events at Chautauqua

Historically, America’s military veterans have been invisible. Many of our veterans, from World War II on, have kept their memories to themselves, often because there was no public forum for discussion, or because they served in an unpopular conflict. America now recognizes the difficulties many veterans have in returning from current engagements and re-entering our modern society.

Veterans Speak seeks to provide the opportunity for veterans to tell their stories to an engaged public which is curious and respectful of the untold stories of veterans from World War II to present. It is American history, and important to all Americans, families of those who served as well as future generations. Colorado Chautauqua Association is proud to support Veterans Speak with these two special events. For a complete listing of Boulder and Broomfield County Veterans Speak events, click here.

Angie Ricketts: No Man’s War – November 4

Irreverent Confessions of an Infantry Wife

Angie Ricketts is 100% a product of the military – raised an Army brat and married to an eight-time deployed Army officer. Angie explores the cultural gap between the public and the professional military and the struggles veterans and their families face when they return to the civilian world. Listen to Angie’s interview with NPR here. Wednesday, November 4. 7:00 PM. Chautauqua Community House. Buy tickets online.

Megan Feldman: Triumph of the Heart & “Enemy, My Friend?” – November 13

Join us for a multi-media event exploring how veterans cope with the impact of war. Featuring the short-film “Enemy My Friend?” watch how after 50 years, a World War II veteran and his tormentor meet and forever transform their lives. Post-screening, author Megan Feldman will discuss her book “Triumph of the Heart” and how and why people forgive after the worst kinds of wartime violence. Watch “Enemy, My Friend?” trailer here. Friday, November 13. 7:00 PM. Chautauqua Community House. Buy tickets online.
