FILM

Wisdomkeepers, Paqo Andino – November 14

Our fall documentary series begins in the Peruvian highlands and journeys into the heart of an ancient earthkeeping culture to experience a way of life that is both practical and mystical. The Andean Holy Mountain tradition is one of the planet’s few remaining uninterrupted wisdom lineages dating back 13,000 years. Director and producer Jeffrey Wium will lead a post screening conversation about the film project and his relationship with the Andean Paqos.

Friday, November 14, 7:00 PM. Chautauqua Community House. Buy tickets online.

MUSIC

California Guitar Trio – November 16

Actually non-natives of the “Golden State,” the California Guitar Trio (CGT) is Bert Lams from Belgium, Hideyo Moriya from Japan, and Paul Richards from Utah. Together, their technical wizardry is breathtaking, as is the wide range of instrumental music the group renders… everything from unique originals to dazzling, cleverly-arranged interpretations of jazz, classical music and even surf rock.
Since their inception in 1991, the Trio has released 14 CDs, nine studio albums (including a Christmas record), three live releases (including an opening act from their 1995 worldwide tour with King Crimson) and two compilations. CGT’s 2010 album “Andromeda” was named Best Instrumental Album that year by the Indie Acoustic Project.
Sunday, November 16, 7:30 PM. Chautauqua Community House. Buy tickets online.

PARENTS & TEACHERS

Engaging Children’s Emotions in Learning – November 19

What does it mean to embrace children’s emotional lives as productive aspects of their academic and social experiences? Whether or not they are invited, stories from life experiences, including stories of trauma, do enter classrooms and other sites of learning. CU Professor Elizabeth Dutro will draw upon years of research with students and teachers to explore questions about what it means to accept, recognize and carry these experiences into any learning setting.
Wednesday, November 19, 7:00 PM. Chautauqua Community House. Buy tickets online.

SUPPORT

Schedule your Colorado Gives Day donation today!

This week’s fresh snow has set the mood for the holidays and the season of giving! Tuesday, December 9th is the fifth annual Colorado Gives Day. Last year, Coloradans made an astonishing show of support for local nonprofits, including Colorado Chautauqua Association, by donating $15.4 million in just 24 hours.
As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, Colorado Chautauqua Association relies on your generosity to help sustain the 116 -year-old National Historic Landmark that enriches the community and the lives of all who visit. On average, CCA spends half a million dollars a year on routine and capital projects to maintain the 67 historic buildings and 26 acres of grounds.
