Jorge Latre: Mental Game Wanted for Iditarod – November 15

What does it take to pull a sled across Alaska for 1,000 miles on foot in winter? Join Jorge Latre, competitor of the Iditasport Race, and discover the mental strength and determination required for this impossible journey. “Only 15 runners have ever covered the entire Iditarod Trail during the winter. Covenhoven – November 17

Covenhoven is the brain child and moniker of Colorado indie musician Joel Van Horne. Chapter three in his story, “A Kind of Revelation” continues his over-arching theme of immersion in a place and letting that place become the centerpiece of the music. Big Sur, Olympic National Park and the Oregon coast serve as his geographical muse this time around. The resulting nine songs are a captivating journey that transport the listener to the remote corners of the windswept coastal wildernesses. Watch Covenhoven here. Historic Boulder’s 33rd annual tour comes to Chautauqua – December 1 & 2

One of Boulder’s most enduring holiday traditions, Historic Boulder’s 33rd annual Homes for the Holidays features the charm, history and architecture of the upper Baseline neighborhood and the Colorado Chautauqua – a National Historic Landmark. Tour historic houses and two of Chautauqua’s Craftsman landmarks, long-time community gathering places, shop our Holiday Boutique and enjoy the sounds of the season performed by local singers and pianists, and demonstrations by artisans and designers. PROJECTS AT CHAUTAUQUA

Waterwise Garden rehabilitation

Thanks in part to a generous contribution by the Winslow Foundation, Phase I of the Water Wise Garden rehabilitation project is in full swing. Rocky Mountain Environmental Construction is implementing the first phase of the project, which includes reshaping garden beds to create more entry points , replacing nutrient depleted soil, and installing a new irrigation system. If you are visiting Chautauqua, you may notice large equipment including dump trucks and back hoes accessing the Academic Hall parking lot and surrounding roadways.
