FILM

The Son of the Sheik (1926) – July 25

Featuring live musical accompaniment by Hank Troy, piano

“The Son of the Sheik” (1926) is Rudolph Valentino’s last film – a rollicking, sexy adventure drama, with doses of slapstick humor. In this story, Ahmed, son of the sheik, falls in love with Yasmin, a dancing girl who fronts her father’s gang of mountebanks. Valentino shows real talent by playing two roles, portraying both the son and the father, where he remains almost unrecognizable in the latter role. Wednesday, July 25. 7:30 PM. Chautauqua Auditorium. Buy tickets online.
