The Epic of Everest (1924) – July 18

Featuring live musical accompaniment by Hank Troy, piano

The third attempt to climb Everest culminated in the deaths of two of the finest climbers of their generation, George Mallory and Andrew Irvine. The event sparked an on-going debate over whether they did indeed reach the summit. Filming in brutally harsh conditions with a hand-cranked camera, Captain John Noel captured the vulnerability, isolation and courage of people persevering in one of the world’s harshest landscapes. Watch the trailer here. Wednesday, July 18. 7:30 PM. Chautauqua Auditorium. Buy tickets online.

120th anniversary menu

Running each month in 2018, the Chautauqua Dining Hall will feature a dish and cocktail inspired by a decade in our history. July’s menu highlights the rise of pop culture and the hippie movement during the 1960s. Music, flowers and love influenced people all across America after many years of war. Julia Childs helped to once again popularize home cooking and vegetarian cooking started to enter the mainstream. Our Oyster Mushroom Gnocchi pays tribute to the counter-culture and their unique ideas. Our cocktail was inspired by Elvis Presley’s 1961 classic film, “Blue Hawaii.” View the full menu here.

Served daily from 5:00 p.m. – close. For reservations, click here or call 303.440.3776
