Peter & Will Anderson play Benny Goodman – May 12

Direct from Lincoln Center, Peter and Will Anderson are one of the most extraordinary sibling teams performing music today. Peter and Will have headlined at The Blue Note, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, New Orleans Jazz Festival to name a few and their ensemble has performed in over 30 U.S. states and around the globe.

Peter and Will’s 2012 release, “Correspondence,” was listed in Vanity Fair magazine alongside Miles Davis in “Four New Releases to Make You Love Jazz.” Their recent release, “Reed Reflections,” was called by the Washington Post, “imaginatively unfolding in ways that consistently bring a fresh perspective to classic jazz tunes.” Peter and Will’s newest album, “Deja Vu,” features Albert “Tootie” Heath, and was called “a burner that reveals the band’s cohesiveness and spirit” by JazzTimes.

Performing in the intimate Chautauqua Community House, Peter and Will Anderson will be joined by Julliard guitarist Alex Wintz for a memorable evening of Benny Goodman jazz. Listen to NPR’s episode “The Legacy of the Benny Goodman Quartet” featuring Peter and Will Anderson here. Thursday, May 12. 7:30 PM. Chautauqua Community House. Buy tickets online.

Gregory Porter – June 12

2015 Jazz FM International Jazz Artist of the Year and winner of the 2014 Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Album, “Liquid Spirit,” Gregory Porter is an artist whose music is at once timeless yet utterly of its time. “Take Me to the Alley,” Gregory’s much-anticipated follow-up to his Grammy-winning debut was released on May 6. A digital download of the new album is included with every ticket ordered for this show. Listen to Gregory’s new album on NPR here. Venus Cruz will open the show. Sunday, June 12. 7:30 PM. Chautauqua Auditorium. Buy tickets online.

Joey Alexander – September 9

An extraordinary and uniquely gifted pianist from Bali, Joey Alexander’s recording debut “My Favorite Things” was nominated as Best Instrumental Jazz Album for the 2016 Grammy Awards. His track “Giant Steps” also earned a 2016 Grammy nomination for Best Improvised Jazz Solo making Joey, at 12 years old, one of the youngest Grammy nominees in history.

Due to the lack of jazz education, self-taught pianist Joey Alexander began attending jam sessions with senior musicians. Through festival appearances and awards for his improvisational brilliance, the world has taken notice of this phenomenal and exciting pianist with the astonishing technique and soulful sound. Greg Harris Vibe Quintet will open the show. Watch Joey Alexander’s performance on the 58th annual Grammy Awards here. Friday, September 9. 7:30 PM. Chautauqua Auditorium. Buy tickets online.

An Evening with Pat Metheny – September 21

Pat Metheny has won countless polls as “Best Jazz Guitarist” and awards, including three gold records and 20 Grammy Awards. Over the years, he has performed with artists as diverse as Steve Reich to Ornette Coleman to Herbie Hancock to Jim Hall to Milton Nascimento to David Bowie. Metheny’s body of work includes compositions for solo guitar, small ensembles, electric and acoustic instruments, large orchestras, and ballet pieces and even the robotic instruments of his Orchestrion project, while always sidestepping the limits of any one genre.

Pat will be joined by Antonio Sanchez (drums, percussion), Gwilym Simcock (piano, keyboards) and Linda Oh (bass). Watch Pat Metheny’s Unity Session performance here. Wednesday, September 21. 7:30 PM. Chautauqua Auditorium. Buy tickets online.
