COMEDY

Just Announced: Margaret Cho – June 26

Beginning with her early days on the scene in SoCal, comedian Margaret Cho has always been the Agent Provocateur of stand up. Never one to shy away from a difficult, or even ‘taboo’ topic, there is no subject off limits. Her socially aware brand of comedy has made her both a thought leader as well as a teacher to those with open minds and open hearts.

An accomplished performer in all formats, Cho could be called the “Queen of all Media,” having conquered the worlds of film, television, books and theatre. She has three Grammy Award nominations for Best Comedy Album under her belt.

Tickets on sale:
• Chautauqua Concert Members: Thursday, March 19, at 10:00 AM, online at tickets.chautauqua.com.

PRESERVATION

Colorado Chautauqua Association opens digital archives to the public

Preserving and sharing the community’s rich history has been made one step easier with the partial digitization of the Colorado Chautauqua Association’s (CCA) archive collection.

The archive collection at the Colorado Chautauqua consists of approximately 5,000 inventoried items of historic records dating back to the inception of the chautauqua in 1898. The archives content ranges from photographs and marketing materials to extensive information on buildings and grounds and organization operations.

Housed at the national historic landmark since its inception, the archives has been previously inaccessible to the public. As part of a pilot project to gauge community interest, a portion of the collection has been digitized with a sampling of historical photographs and printed materials now available for viewing on CCA’s website and through the link below.

The online exhibit includes items such as photographs showing the Auditorium’s original bleachers and dirt floor, program brochures from the early 1900’s as well as the first program from 1898, and more modern posters that capture speakers such as the Reverend Jesse Jackson. Visitors to the website who have additional questions are invited to complete an online Ask the Archivist form.

The cataloging and partial digitization of the archive collection has been underway for the past two years.

ACCESS & SAFETY PROJECTS

West Garden Walk project continues

The brick path running east to west through the Centennial Garden has re-opened to pedestrian traffic and is expected to remain open for the duration of the West Garden Walk and ADA-accessible restroom projects, offering access to the Dining Hall and north part of the campus.

Please use caution when traveling in this area.

The next phase of the West Garden Walk project will include grading and stone work as an ADA-compliant sidewalk and associated landscape are put into place.

For more information, please contact CCA’s Facilities and Preservation Manager Jeff Medanich at 303.952.1676.

Auditorium ADA accessible restroom project continues

Morning Glory Drive from the Community House east to the back entrance of the Academic Hall parking lot will be closed for the entire day Tuesday, March 17 and part of the day Wednesday, March 18, as excavation and movement of heavy machinery continues in preparation of the construction of an Auditorium ADA-accessible restroom.

Please use caution around this area.

The restroom will feature six stalls with ADA-accessible accommodations for both men and women, and will be completed in mid-May, weather permitting, for the start of the 2015 Chautauqua Auditorium season.

This restroom project is managed and funded by the City of Boulder. For more information about this project, contact the City of Boulder Facilities Asset Management Department or call 303.952.1676.
