Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs – June 24

Bring the entire family and join us for the 1916 film adaptation of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.”
In this classic adaption based on the 1912 Broadway play of the beloved fairy tale, the lovely Snow White (Marguerite Clark) arouses the jealousy and hatred of Mary Jane, the ugliest woman in the kingdom who wants desperately to be royalty. Mary Jane trades her heart to a witch in return for beauty and the love of a king. She and the king marry, and Snow White is forced to work in their kitchen, where she accidently meets a man, who unbeknownst to her is a prince. When he asks for her hand in marriage, the queen becomes enraged and orders Snow White to be killed. Snow White is taken to the woods to be killed but when the queen’s hunter allows her to live, she discovers the cabin of seven little dwarfs, and the rest of the story follows the favorite, well-known plot of today. Margaret Cho – June 26

Beginning with her early days on the scene in Southern California, comedian Margaret Cho has always been the Agent Provocateur of stand up. Never one to shy away from a difficult, or even taboo topic, there is no subject off limits. Her socially aware brand of comedy has made her both a thought leader and teacher to those with open minds and open hearts.
An accomplished performer in all formats, Cho could be called the “Queen of all Media,” having conquered the worlds of film, television, books and theatre. She has three Grammy Award nominations for Best Comedy Album under her belt. Comedian Selena Luna will open the show.  Friday, June 26. 8:00 PM. Buy tickets online. COLORADO MUSIC FESTIVAL  June 26 – August 9

The 2015 Colorado Music Festival gets underway this Friday, June 26. Week one of the six week festival gets off to a playful start with the annual Young People’s Concerts June 26 & 27 for children and families. The festival gets underway in earnest on Wednesday, July 1 with leading contralto Marie-Nicole Lemieux in works by Ravel and Rossini, followed on Friday, July 3 with a very special recital by renown pianist Olga Kern. ACCESS and SAFETY PROJECTS

ADA accessible restroom project

Restroom shell and interior work continues. this week.  The project, managed and funded by the City of Boulder, will feature six stalls with ADA accessible accommodations for both men and women. The building will be open seasonally in conjunction with the Auditorium schedule. Anticipated opening, weather permitting, is the end of June/early July. BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION

Participate in the 2015 annual election

Five candidates (Michelle Estrella, Tom Galey (incumbent), Mark Gerwing, Susan Osborne (incumbent), Alan Rudy) are running for three openings on the 15-person Colorado Chautauqua Association (CCA) Board of Directors (BOD). Elected board members will serve three-year terms beginning September 1, 2015 and ending August 30, 2018.
The election opens online at noon on Tuesday, July 7th and runs through 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 16th.  Online voting log-in and candidate information will be sent to CCA members of record via e-mail (or written ballot, if requested) on Monday, July 6th.
The election results will be announced at the end of the Annual Meeting, 430 – 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 16th in the Grand Assembly hall of the Community House. All members of record  as of Monday, July 6, 2015 are invited to participate.  Renew your membership or join online here.
