The Cameraman – July 6

Starring Buster Keaton with Hank Troy, piano

Buster Keaton’s 1928 comedy, “The Cameraman,” finds Buster hopelessly in love with the secretary for MGM’s newsreel department (Marceline Day). Determined to win her affection, the clumsy tintype photographer attempts to become a motion picture cameraman. Will his early failures turn her away or will she fall for Buster too? Why Be Good? – July 13

With live musical accompaniment by The Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra

This 1929 romantic comedy stars Colleen Moore as Pert Kelly, a shop girl by day and wild flapper by night. Her vivacity and beauty catches the eye of Winthrop Peabody Jr. (Neil Hamilton), head of staff at his father’s department store where she works. Little does Winthrop know that Pert is a shop girl at the department store making it against the rules for them to date. With added pressure from his father to seek out a virtuous girl, a trap is set to find out if Pert is virtuous or if she’s just like all the other flappers. Wednesday, July 13. 7:30 PM. Colorado Music Festival – Week 2

Week 2 of the Colorado Music Festival continues with music director Jean-Marie Zeitouni conducting the full Festival Orchestra through a two-evening cycle of Johannes Brahms’ complete symphonies on July 7 & 8. The music continues Sunday, July 10 with “The Tragedy of Carmen” featuring a quartet of vocal talent and the Chamber Orchestra. On Tuesday, July 12, jazz trio The Bad Plus opens the Mash-Up Series with their original deconstruction of Igor Stravinsky’s once notorious masterpiece, “The Rite of Spring.”

Available for two to four people, picnics include an assortment of sliced and cured meats, artisan cheeses, house pickled vegetables, pasta salad, stone ground mustard, house-made compote, non-alcoholic bottled beverages and choice of dessert item, all packed in a nifty reusable tote bag. Price is $21 per person and bags must be prepaid in full. Picnics can be reserved in person at the Chautauqua General Store or online here. 24 hour pre-pick up reservation required.

Board of Directors Election: Candidate Forum tonight

Colorado Chautauqua Association (CCA) members are encouraged to meet the 2016 Board of Directors (BOD) candidates at the open Candidate Forum tonight. Eight candidates are running for two openings on the 15-person CCA BOD for three-year terms beginning September 1, 2016 and ending August 30, 2019. The open Candidate Forum will be held tonight from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Grand Assembly, located on the main floor of the Chautauqua Community House. CITY OF BOULDER PROJECTS AT CHAUTAUQUA

Boulder to form working group to assist with Chautauqua Access Management Plan (CAMP)

The City of Boulder is seeking applicants for a working group that will assist the city as it studies current conditions and creates pilot programs to provide improved access and parking management in the greater Chautauqua area. Community members interested in serving on the working group should review information and apply online at www.ChautauquaAccessManagementPlan.com no later than 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 8.
