MUSIC

Blackbird & The Storm – January 9

Looking for a truly unique experience to start your weekend? Blackbird and the Storm’s musical performance this Friday in the Chautauqua Community House is sure to be a truly unique concert experience. This performance celebrating birdsong is inspired by the melodies, rhythms and folklore of birdsong, while natural field recordings loop throughout the music to create an original soundscape. To celebrate their Audubon Tour, Blackbird and the Storm (Marie-Juliette Bird, Todd Ayers, Eben Grace, Raoul Rossiter and Greta Parks) have curated a collection of songs about birds, written by various artists.

Blackbird and the Storm will also be on Colorado Public Radio’s “Colorado Matters” on Thursday, January 8 at 10 AM and 7 PM. Be sure to listen in before their show! Friday, January 9. 7:30 PM. Chautauqua Community House. Buy tickets online.

David Amram’s America – February 8

Beat Generation poet, composer, multi-instrumentalist, author and all around genius, David Amram, will present a very special and eclectic evening of music, readings and narration from iconic beat works “Splendor in the Grass,” “Pull My Daisy” and “On The Road.”

David will also discuss his most recent project with the Colorado Symphony—the recording and release of the symphony’s album, “This Land: Symphonic Variations on a Song by Woody Guthrie.” Don’t miss this living legend! Sunday, February 8. 8:00 PM. Chautauqua Community House. Buy tickets online.
