How Children Learn Math & Science – February 18

What if new approaches to math and science empowered students and appealed to their curiosity rather than intimidated them?

CU professors Edd Taylor and Valerie Otero will discuss how these new methods naturally cater to students’ problem solving instincts. They will also discuss the rationale for changes in math and science classrooms and parents’ shifting roles in a somewhat unfamiliar space. Wednesday, February 18. 7:00 PM. Chautauqua Community House. Buy tickets online.

Phase I of West Garden Walk continues

Phase I of the West Garden Walk project – the installation of a comprehensive, below ground, storm water drainage management system – is expected to be completed this week. A temporary walkway will be set up to the west of the Dining Hall, in front of Cottage 200, to provide access through this area to the Dining Hall as work progresses on the ADA accessible restroom project and the associated excavation.

Phase II of the project will include grading and stone work as an ADA accessible walkway with associated landscaping is constructed. This phase of the project is expected to be completed in spring 2015.

Please use caution when using this walkway and obey all signage in the area. Thank you for your cooperation.

For more information, please contact CCA’s Facilities and Preservation Manager Jeff Medanich at 303.952.1676.

Auditorium ADA accessible restroom project continues

Excavation on the west side of the Auditorium continues this week in preparation for the construction of an ADA accessible restroom structure to service Auditorium patrons. The first phase of this project includes the relocation of an electrical transformer which serves the Auditorium, and is expected to be completed by the end of the week.

The project, managed and funded by the City of Boulder, will feature a six stall restroom with ADA accessible accommodations for both men and women. The restroom will be completed in mid-May for the start of the 2015 Chautauqua Auditorium season.

For more information about this project, contact the City of Boulder Facilities Asset Management Department, or call 303.952.1676.
