Melissa Etheridge – August 5

Rhiannon Giddens – August 13

As a member of the Grammy award–winning Carolina Chocolate Drops, Rhiannon Giddens mesmerized the audience with her elegant, prodigious voice and fierce spirit. Venturing on her own, Gidden worked with world-renowned producer T-Bone Burnett to produce a composite portrait of “Ruby,” of America, and of Gidderns herself, on her solo album “Tomorrow Is My Turn,” The time is now and it is clearly Giddens turn. Week 6 – A Royal Finish

As the season comes to a close, week 6 of CMF offers an eclectic blend of travel and master works.  On August 6 and 7, “Trading Places” takes you on a journey from New York to Paris with Canadian virtuoso pianist, Marc-André Hamelin.  The 2015 Colorado Music Festival’s grand finale on Sunday, August 9 is a delightful program of vocal works by Mozart and Handel performed by soprano Karina Gauvin along with the Colorado Music Festival Orchestra and Chorus.

Dave Foreman: “Man Swarm”– August 8

Earth First! founder and conservationist Dave Foreman will read from his latest book “Man Swarm” and discuss overpopulation and its impact on wildlife, wetlands and potential solutions. He will address how this overpopulation crisis in the United States and worldwide is the main driver in the extinction and the cause of pollution, including destructive greenhouse gases. Dave will both share the findings behind these ideas with those not yet convinced the overpopulation crisis is real, as well as offer tangible ways to be part of the solution. Chautauqua arbor repairs underway

The City of Boulder’s Parks and Recreation Department is renovating the Chautauqua arbor (b. 1908). The wood timbers will be replaced in the coming weeks. During this time, the park’s path will remain open unless the reconstruction crew is actively working on the structure. During times of reconstruction, expect periodic path closures.
