Colin Hay with Trace Bundy – August 10

Singer-songwriter Colin Hay is most beloved for his intimate, confessional live shows but most widely known as the leading frontman for Australian rock band Men at Work. His inclusion as a playlist favorite from the likes of Metallica to The Lumineers reflects his continuing relevance and broad appeal. Now with both 80’s fame and indie credibility, it’s possible that Hay has delivered the defining album of his solo career, “Fierce Mercy.” Watch Colin Hay hereTrace Bundy, dubbed the “Acoustic Ninja,” will open tonight’s show. Colorado Music Festival – Season Finale

As the 2017 season comes to a close, week 6 of Colorado Music Festival (CMF) offers a glorious end to an exciting 40th anniversary season. On August 3, music-director Jean- Marie Zeitouni conducts Mahler’s Ninth Symphony for the first time at Chautauqua Auditorium. On August 4, the season closes with Zeitouni conducting Gil Shaham, one of the foremost violinists of our time, and the CMF Orchestra for a special performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7. Spite Marriage – August 2

Starring Buster Keaton with live musical accompaniment by the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra

One of Buster Keaton’s least known works is his last silent film, “Spite Marriage” (1929). In this week’s silent film, Keaton plays a hapless tailor’s assistant who keeps audiences laughing with his comedic trials and tribulations to win a young woman’s affections. Join us for an intimate movie night and discover new ideas and cultures, followed by a post-screening discussion. This year’s series kicks off with the premiere of the unsolved story of Chicano activists who died in Boulder in 1974 and continues through April with a look at the lasting legacy of Leonard Nimoy and his iconic portrayal of Mr. Spock on “Star Trek.” All films: 7:00 PM. This weekend Edwina and her traveling flea circus return to the Chautauqua Community House. Edwina’s miniature minions of delight will perform death-defying circus feats for your entertainment – daring dives, diva fleas…and a flea cannonball. Space is limited for this tiny theater.
