Katie Singer: An Electronic Silent Spring – April 7

Over millions of years, living creatures have evolved in relation to the Earth’s electromagnetic energy. Now, we’re surrounded by human-made frequencies that challenge our health and survival.

Katie Singer will join us to discuss her book, “An Electronic Silent Spring,” which reports the effects of electrification and wireless devices on people, plants, bee colonies, and frogs around the globe. It also presents solutions for people who want to reduce their exposure to electromagnetic radiation.

Click here to listen to a talk Katie gave at the “Techno-Utopianism & the Fate of the Earth Teach-In” at Cooper Union in October, 2014. Tuesday, April 7. 7:00 PM. Chautauqua Community House. Buy tickets online.

Aspen Hourglass – April 10

Fort Collins-based Aspen Hourglass is an exciting new alternative Front Range band receiving rave reviews and developing a huge fan base.

The band began casually in February 2012 inside a garage playing music for fun. Aspen Hourglass also was recently featured by Second Story Garage, performing their song “Who Needs” in the music video studio in Boulder.

Join us for an evening of new music in a small, intimate atmosphere before the band skyrockets to stardom and subsequent large venue shows. Friday, April 10. 8:00 PM. Chautauqua Community House. Buy tickets online.

The Violent Life of Massive Stars – April 13

Tickets are going fast for the final space forum of the winter season!

From birth to black holes, massive stars light up and drive the evolution of galaxies, forge most of the chemical elements on the periodic table during their brief, luminous, and violent lives, and die in supernova explosions that create neutron stars and black holes.

Professor John Bally will demonstrate massive star birth, evolution and demise with the latest images from our ground and space-based observatories. Bally is a professor in the Department of Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences Center for Astrophysics and Space Astronomy (CASA) at CU Boulder. Monday, April 13. 7:00 PM. Chautauqua Community House.
