Symbols of Resistance – September 13

“Symbols of Resistance” is a tribute to the Chican@ movement; a useful springboard for a discussion that remains as relevant today as the period it reflects upon and portrays. It is a memorial to those who fought and died in the name of liberation and justice. Perhaps most importantly, it is a reminder that struggles for justice demand determination and commitment. This special film screening is presented in partnership with the United Mexican American Students (UMAS). Listen to a recent interview about the 50th anniversary of UMAS on KGNU here. The meal is accompanied by lemon white rice, sautéed shrimp and fried pickled green tomatoes from Three Leaf Farm. Also included is the bright neon cocktail Melon Liquor, which became all the rage in the club scene during the 1980s. View the full menu here. Served daily from 5:00 p.m. – close.
