SUMMARY:The Cody Sisters - SOLD OUT!
DESCRIPTION:Presented By KGNU\n \nDoor time: 7:30\nShow time: 8:00 \nThe Cody Sisters band is the very heart of contemporary acoustic Folk and Bluegrass music in Colorado\, the United States\, and the UK. Their propulsive instrumental solos and warm harmonies combine to grip the listener. Along with their bass player\, Will Pavilonis\, sisters Megan (guitar\, mandolin\, vocals) and Maddie (guitar\, banjo\, vocals) have forged a new sound that has no equivalent match in the acoustic world today. \nIn May of 2023\, The Cody Sisters released their self-titled EP\, marking a new beginning for the band. It is their first release since parting ways with their former image of “young girls in a family band” and it portrays a sense of maturity and musical understanding that reveals a new dimension to their artistic expression. They set out to explore new sounds and styles while still holding true to their bluegrass roots\, and they have done just that. This new music is an invitation to connect\, to feel\, and to journey together through original lyrics and captivating instrumental arrangements.  \nThe Cody Sisters have a sound that is original\, exhilarating\, and heartwarming all at the same time. With strong ties to traditional American acoustic music\, they continue to stun their audiences both in the US and abroad. \n \nALL TICKET PRICES ARE INCLUSIVE OF SERVICE FEES

SUMMARY:Amanda Pascali
DESCRIPTION:Presented By KGNU\n \nDoor time: 7:30\nShow time: 8:00 \nAmanda Pascali embodies the complexity of modern identity. Born to a mother from Cairo who grew up in France and an Italian father raised in Romania\, she’s a mixed-race\, bilingual Gen Z troubadour perpetually caught between worlds. Quoting poet Ijeoma Umebinyuo\, she says\, “I’m often ‘too foreign for here\, too foreign for home\, and never enough for both.’” Rather than lamenting this displacement\, Pascali has transformed it into her artistic superpower. \nIn her bright red teenage bedroom\, she started writing songs about her life and family\, later singing them at coffeehouses and motorcycle bars. Her curiosity eventually led her to Palermo on a Fulbright fellowship\, where she spent two years developing To Sing and Recount (Canta e Cunta) — a digital storytelling project that translates and revitalizes Southern Italian folk songs\, revealing their startling relevance to contemporary social issues worldwide. \nAt fourteen\, surfing the internet\, Pascali happened upon Sicilian folk legend Rosa Balistreri’s music and was immediately struck by her rebelliousness. “She was more punk than any of the bands whose posters hung on my wall\,” Pascali recounts. “Rosa defied all the norms of her time. She endured famine and poverty: learning to read at thirty-two\, picking up a guitar at forty\, then turning both into tools of resistance.” Pascali began translating these canzoni d’autore and traditional songs into English\, marveling at the vivid characters populating her songs. They reminded her of Bob Dylan’s protagonists\, but wilder\, rawer — a thousand times more revolutionary. Her new album\, Roses and Basil\, reimagines these and other folk song translations alongside her own immigrant-American folk songs. \n“Wake Up\, Baby\,” the lead single from Roses and Basil\, exemplifies this time-traveling approach. Starting with one of Sicily’s oldest serenatas — the story of a man singing his marriage proposal to a lover’s balcony while she sleeps through it — Pascali flips the narrative entirely. In her version\, the woman isn’t sleeping; she’s ignoring him. “It connects the experience of waiting beneath a window to the modern frustration of being\, as my generation would say\, ‘left on read\,’” she explains. The song moves like a brisk tango\, shifting from minor verse melancholy to major chorus hope\, with more than a few nods to Roy Orbison’s “In Dreams.” \nPascali’s work songs\, protest numbers\, lullabies and ballads about everyday struggle are resonating with a diverse global audience. With one viral video after another\, she has garnered over 130k followers on Instagram. Her fans appreciate her captivating voice\, poeticism and preternatural ability to find old songs that reverberate across countries and centuries. The accolades have followed: Fulbright Scholar\, Artist-in-Residence at the Library of Congress\, World Expo performer in Osaka\, official showcase artist at Folk Alliance International\, and awards from the Calandra Institute\, Mid-America Arts Alliance\, Kerrville Folk Festival\, and Houston Arts Alliance. But perhaps more meaningfully\, Pascali proves that old songs can be endlessly reshaped for new generations. \n \nALL TICKET PRICES ARE INCLUSIVE OF SERVICE FEES

SUMMARY:Reed Foehl with Andy Mann - SOLD OUT!
DESCRIPTION:Presented By KGNU\n \nDoor time: 7:30\nShow time: 8:00 \nReed Foehl\nBorn in a small country town in New England and into a musical family\, Grammy-nominated songwriter Reed Foehl started out as a street singer on the streets of Boston and has gone on to record and release over 11 studio albums that have garnered him national attention with numerous placements in film and television and as a touring singer-songwriter. \nFoehl writes songs like postcards from the long way home – weathered\, honest and quietly devastating. Rooted in American folk\, his music carries the weight of loss\, love and survival\, told with a voice that sounds lived-in and unafraid. There’s a grit in the stories\, grace in the melodies\, and a deep human tenderness running through it all. \n“Foehl places the listener out on a remote stretch of highway\, mind-swept in gorgeously emotive sonic landscapes. His arrangements are cinematic\, his vocal delivery enrapturing\, yet delicate. He delivers lived-in lyrics which conjure picturesque mind movies.” -Relix \nFoehl is set to release his 7th solo studio album in 2026. Recorded in Woodstock\, NY\, with many special guests lending their talents to the project\, including Gregory Alan Isakov\, Jeffrey Martin\, Anna Tivel\, Rich Hinman and Jeb Bows. \n \nAndy Mann\nAward-winning National Geographic photographer\, Andy Mann\, combines his passion for storytelling and songwriting alongside longtime friend and multi-instrumentalist/songwriter\, Eli West. Drawing on folk music traditions\, Andy weaves in a delightfully warped\, witty sense of storytelling in pursuit of his ultimate goal: take the audience on an adventure. \n \nALL TICKET PRICES ARE INCLUSIVE OF SERVICE FEES

SUMMARY:Covenhoven with Corsicana
DESCRIPTION:Presented By KGNU\n \nDoor time: 7:30\nShow time: 8:00 \nCovenhoven\nQuietly forging his own path through the crowded indie folk landscape of 2025\, Joel Van Horne (AKA Covenhoven) released his fifth album\, The Color of the Dark\, to glimmering reviews and embarked on an extensive tour schedule that took him all over the U.S. and Canada.  Funding the album with the help of 250 of his loyal fans and self-releasing it in April of 2025\, Denver’s Westword called it a “masterpiece album of lyrical excellence”.  He worked with producer/engineers Dave Wilton (Gregory Alan Isakov\, Nathaniel Rateliff\, A Boy and His Kite\, etc.)\, Brian Joseph (Bon Iver\, Sufjan Stevens\, etc.)\, and Andrew Berlin (Blasting Room) to record 10 new songs that have already passed half a million streams on Spotify alone.  Then during his tours through the spring and summer\, he re-recorded another version of the album in its entirety… calling it Field Notes… made entirely outdoors\, finding make-shift “studios” in stone alcoves and forest hollows in places like Joshua Tree\, Big Sur\, Banff\, and beyond… he set up a single microphone and let the local birds\, wind\, water\, and other sounds of nature take part in the performances. Then\, as if two full albums in a year weren’t enough\, a new single\, Aeroplane\, dropped a few months ago that shows Joel dipping his toes into the Americana and folk-rock pools of his heroes. \n \nCorsicana\nCorsicana’s songs are soaring and magnetic. Bird bones aren’t actually hollow\, they are interwoven with pockets for air to flow through as an extension of the lungs. Language in Ben’s music are those pockets of breath carrying us higher and higher\, allowing us to take flight. And in the glide\, there is pensiveness and longing. There is introspection and flagellation. There are mantras and the ways they don’t work. The realization that you must become your own person after allowing yourself to be defined by others. The realization that your parents are just as messed up as you are. The shock of aloneness and the relief of freedom. You could almost call it growing up – except it’s the kind of growing up we have to do every day. A relentless honesty that comes through the associations of egrets and fathers\, of turnpikes and lovers\, of falling and flying.” – Gion Davis \nCorsicana has become an established artist in the Colorado music scene since their debut in 2014\, having opened for acts such as Devotchka\, Hippo Campus\, Deep Sea Diver\, The Greeting Committee\, & Wye Oak\, among others. They have toured the West Coast\, Midwest\, & Canada – with plans for plenty more. Corsicana’s 3rd full-length\, Kept\, released in October 2023. \n \nALL TICKET PRICES ARE INCLUSIVE OF SERVICE FEES

Join us for the show and then spend the night at the base of Boulder’s Flatirons! The demos the duo made\, produced by Adams\, blended pop and folk with subtle electronic touches\, making it a pioneering effort in the realm of folktronica with a satisfying blend of ancient folklore and modern technology. Robbie Robertson (of The Band) signed Eastmountainsouth to DreamWorks\, but a major label shake up led to the band’s demise. \nAdams launched his solo career with Gather Up (2006)\, a brooding\, autumnal album recorded in his apartment. Its hushed melancholy won rave reviews and led to Leavetaking (2008)\, an understated folk rock album that featured the hit “The Longer I Run”\, followed by Traces (2009)\, and Between Us (2011)\, collectively selling over 275\,000 single downloads. Adams continues his introspective explorations of the middle ground between hope and heartache on The Mighty Storm. \nTo make this album\, Adams put together a team of like-minded producer/musicians including Lex Price (Mindy Smith\, k.d. lang)\, Joshua Grange (k. d. lang\, Sheryl Crow)\, Joe McMahan (Luella and the Sun)\, and Ian Fitchuk. “We sat down and worked together\, everyone contributing to the playing\, arrangements and production\,” Adams explains. “We recorded in RCA Studio A in Nashville\, the old Chet Atkins studio built in 1965. Most of the tracking was done live… we all spread out in the same room\, so you can really hear the sound of that space on the record.” \nLike Adams’ other albums\, The Mighty Storm is marked by strong melodies\, the band’s understated\, but muscular playing and the calm emotional intensity of his singing. “Hey Believers” is an anti-spiritual that blends hushed acoustic guitar and long sustained notes from a churchy organ to deliver a message that’s equal parts faith and desperation. Joshua Grange’s crying pedal steel and Joe McMahan’s reverb drenched guitar add a soft mournful quality to “She Has to Come Down\,” the story of a young woman slipping into a self-destructive vortex. The song was inspired by the Jack Kerouac novella\, ‘Tristessa” and also appears on a recent compilation called “Esperanza”. Piano\, guitar and pedal steel augment the poignant melody of “Around Us.” The lyrics are the album’s most positive\, but Adams’ whispered\, aching vocals provide a dramatic contrast\, implying the loneliness that often resides in the heart of an enraptured lover. The songs on The Mighty Storm may have a placid surface\, but the soothing melodies and Adams’ low-key delivery run deep to portray the joys and insecurities of the human condition with a rare compassionate insight. \nPeter Bradley Adams discovered The Beatles when he was five years old. It was a life changing experience. “My dad had a large record collection\,” Adams recalls. “When I was growing up\, he was mostly listening to jazz and classical\, but I discovered his Beatles records and played them on my aqua-green and gold suitcase record player. I remember being totally astonished how those records sounded.” \nFrom that moment on\, his course was set. “I was going to be a musician. I never had any other aspiration\, even though I didn’t know what it would look like. I took a long detour into classical music\, got a Masters in Composition at the University of Alabama and\, after college\, wrote scores for film and TV. At heart\, I always wanted to be a singer/songwriter\, but I was a bit afraid of pursuing it.” \nAdams started piano lessons at six and picked up the guitar later on. In high school and college he was in cover bands for fun\, and shy about performing. “I was hiding in the background\, until I met Kat (Maslich-Bode) and started Eastmountainsouth. A friend introduced us and the minute we started singing together it was clear we had something special. I’d never really sung in public before; playing with Kat was a great way for me to start performing. \n“When I left Eastmountainsouth it was like starting from scratch again. I had to learn to perform alone and find my own voice.” “I’m not an unhappy person\, but I do have a strong melancholic side. And I’m most drawn to the music that reflects that”. Adams’ melancholic outlook is fully realized on The Mighty Storm\, a record that compliments his warm burnished melodies with his most tender vocals to date. \n \nALL TICKET PRICES ARE INCLUSIVE OF SERVICE FEES

SUMMARY:Jesse Roper with Derek Dames Ohl
DESCRIPTION:Presented By KGNU\n \nDoor time: 7:30\nShow time: 8:00 \nJesse Roper\nBased in Victoria\, BC\, Jesse Roper is a blues/Americana artist with a penchant for writing modern indie-infused blues music and delivering bombastic live performances buoyed by his virtuosic guitar playing. His innate and impressive musical talent has served him well\, giving him the flexibility to play with soul icon Booker T. Jones\, rock veteran Colin James\, blues belter Beth Hart\, and Canadian legend Burton Cummings. The stage is where Roper shines. It has been his home since overcoming crippling stage fright during his early twenties. Fear is a part of Roper’s past that barely seems real today – especially when you see the in-concert image of a six-string soldier\, hair matted to his face\, tearing up the stage\, without a hint of second-guessing. \nRoper’s last album ‘Horizons’ marked a sonic high point in his career thus far. Working closely with famed JUNO-nominated producer Gus van Go (Metric\, The Stills\, Whitehorse\, Arkells\, The Trews\, Sam Roberts) on that new collection of songs has pushed Roper into creating some of his best work. “Recording with Gus and Werner F was on a whole new level. \nRoper released the first single off his upcoming LP (to be released in late 2023) “Make It All Work Out” on March 29th\, 2023. The song charted on Canadian terrestrial and satellite radio throughout the spring and early summer. Now all eyes are on the next release\, “Throw This Rope” produced by Gus van Go (Metric\, Whitehorse\, Sam Roberts Band). The song will be the second of multiple energetic\, fresh\, soulful and r&b inspired tracks from a forthcoming LP that harkens the voices of JJ Cale\, The Teskey Brothers\, Ben Harper and others – while maintaining Roper’s strong and unique expression in the genre. \nWhen asked to describe the song\, Jesse remarks\, “Throw This Rope is about being told how to run your life and career by folks who are currently running theirs aground. I sure don’t know everything and I never will but I’ve been given every manner of advice from folks who have no idea what they’re talking about. It’s frustrating sometimes.” \nJesse is a master at connecting his personal story and experiences to his songwriting – crafting narratives that hit on life’s challenges and eccentricities – but that remain upbeat\, engaging and wildly entertaining songs. \nAdventuresome doesn’t properly describe Roper as an artist\, because when the guitar-wielding dynamo sets out to accomplish something\, there’s no telling where his mind will wander\, or when his energy will go. \n \nDerek Dames Ohl\nDerek Dames Ohl is like warm butter on hot bread with blustering conduct. As a modern-day herald\, Derek keeps his roots close with a six-string on his back\, ping-ponging across the United States\, sharing songs at every bar or dive that dares. His sound eclipses and perfects everything from Country\, Blues\, and Honky-Tonk. His pride lies in keeping the American roots music tradition alive\, with punchy guitar playing that’ll surely leave listeners stomping the floorboards. Derek has been compared to artists like John Prine and Guy Clark with his quirky one moment\, and woeful the next\, songwriting style. Derek has performed all across this universe and beyond – playing venues and festivals alike. Some notable artists Derek has played along with\, or opened for\, include\, Willis Alan Ramsey\, Arlo McKinley\, Bill Nershi\, Joshua Ray Walker\, Emily Nenni\, Melissa Carper\, Kassi Valazza\, Larry Keel\, and many\, many more. \n \nALL TICKET PRICES ARE INCLUSIVE OF SERVICE FEES

SUMMARY:Corsicana with Nina de Freitas - CANCELLED
DESCRIPTION:Presented By KGNU\n \nDoor time: 7:30\nShow time: 8:00 \nCorsicana\nCorsicana’s songs are soaring and magnetic. \n \nNina de Freitas\nNina de Freitas is a singer-songwriter currently based in Denver\, CO. Born in Salvador\, Brazil to musician parents\, she embraced her artistic inheritance from an early age. Her musical upbringing is echoed throughout her intimate songwriting that drips with as much honesty as it does complexity. Her rich voice\, “dark as the sea and smooth as good espresso\,” (303 Magazine)\, luxurious melodies and evocative lyrics envelop and halt listeners in a visceral sheet of warmth while her live performances silence crowds in cities across the globe. Nina is currently working on new releases. \n \nALL TICKET PRICES ARE INCLUSIVE OF SERVICE FEES

These narratives help situate the songs in their wider cultural\, spiritual and ecological contexts. \nStone is a galvanizer. He has worked as a producer\, composer\, songwriter and educator.
