Cottage 401, one of our Heritage Cottages, was built in 1900. It was the WCTU (Women's Christian Temperance Union) Rest Cottage. The Colorado affiliate members raised $489 to build this cottage. It served as the meeting place for their week-long conference each season prior to Chautauqua's official opening July 4th. The WCTU was active until 1960 and then moved to Golden, Colorado.

Cottage 401 is also known as the "Rest" Cottage.
